Sonny apologizes to Carly and blames himself for their troubles. Brian shoots an unarmed Sonny, who tells Carly that he is ready to die. Carly convinces Sonny to turn himself in to the police. [Brian arrests Jason for interfering with their capture of Sonny. Scott becomes furious when Sam refuses to press kidnapping charges against Sonny.]

Scott tries to pressure Sonny into making a confession and later orders Ric to do whatever it takes to get Sonny to incriminate himself. [Jax is incredulous that Sam refuses to press kidnapping charges against Sonny.] Carly presses Alcazar not to testify against Sonny. Sonny confesses to Ric that he kidnapped Sam in order to exonerate her. Sonny vows to Carly that he will find a way to make her love him again.

Carly informs Jason that she asked Alcazar to help keep Sonny from going to prison for attempted murder. Sonny refuses Alcazar's help and tells Jason to find him an attorney who is ruthless.

Scott taunts Sonny with the fact that he will soon be moved into a small jail cell. Carly is determined to find a way to keep Sonny from going to jail. Courtney asks Brian to try and stop Sonny's transfer, explaining Scott wants to torture Sonny and drive him over the edge. [A sadistic Scott becomes at angry with Brian when he suggests postponing having Sonny moved.] Justus, laer arrives at the hospital prepared to take on Sonny's case. Scott is shocked when he finds Sonny's hospital room empty. Sonny is surprised when he wakes up on his jet, where Carly explains she sneaked him out of the hospital with Bobbie's help.

Scott informs Justus and Jason that he is going to try Sonny in absentia. Sonny and Carly begin to grow closer while staying at an inn in the French countryside. Sonny wants to make love with Carly, but only if she's ready. [Brian warns Courtney that Scott is going to petition the court to have Michael and Morgan Decemberlared wards of the state.]

Alcazar orders Cappelli to kill Sonny if he is acquitted. The jury announces their Decision regarding Sonny's fate. Brian becomes suspicious when he sees Cappelli talking with Alcazar. Carly lashes out at Alcazar, claiming that she is now free of him and collapses during her tirade.

An unconscious Carly is taken to the hospital. After regaining consciousness, Carly tells Sonny that she dreamed of him. Michael senses that Carly is her old self again. Carly confirms Michael's claim when she tells Sonny that her love for him has returned.

Sonny and Carly are happily in love with each other again. Courtney admits to Carly that she isn't sure she can accept Jason's lifestyle. With Carly on his arm, Sonny looks forward to making Alcazar jealous at the opening of the Hauted Star. Carly is upset when she sees Courtney at the casino with Brian. Courtney and Brian leave when she sees Jason there. On Alcazar's orders, a masked Capelli and his men storm the Haunted Star and rob the casino and its patrons. Carly slips away unnoticed and a masked man pulls her into a kiss.

Carly pleads with Cameron to have her committed to Shadybrook Sanitarium in an effort to get Alcazar out of her thoughts. Faith learns that Carly is at Shadybrook and approaches Carly's doctor, who later prepares to give Carly an injection. Jason is determined to get Carly out of Shadybrook.

At Shadybrooke, Faith has Carly drugged by Dr. Grimes. Faith tries to push a delusional Carly towards Alcazar by planting thoughts of him in her head. Jason arrives at Carly's room and realizes something is wrong. Jason insists to Cameron that he is taking Carly home. Carly stabs Jason with a syringe. [Sonny uses dynamite to create an opening and rescue Sam and Jax. Sam is separated from Sonny and Jax due to another cave-in. Sam is knocked unconscious by an unseen assailant as she gathers the treasure. Jax and Sonny dig their way to Sam, but find only the bejeweled pirate sword.]

[Sonny believes that Sam voluntarily took off with the treasure, but Jax suspects otherwise. Sonny leaves as Jax searches for Sam. Sonny is surprised when he finds Sam at the shack and realizes that Jax was right.] Cameron tries to calm an hysterical Carly after she stabs Jason with a syringe full of sedatives. Faith tries to take advantage of a drugged Jason but he fights her off and makes his way out of the sanitarium. Faith has Carly drugged again. Faith tries to plant in Carly's mind that the man she loves is Alcazar, not Sonny. Alcazar learns that Carly is at Shadybrook.

Faith schemes to have Carly sent to Ferncliff. Alcazar escapes from the safe house and rescues Carly from Faith. Jason and Courtney find a straitjacketed Faith in Carly's bed. Carly leaves Shadybrook with Alcazar.

[Sonny grabs Sam and forces her to go back to the shack with him. Jax arrives at the shack after being shot. Sonny removes the bullet and saves Jax's life at Sam's request.] Alcazar takes Carly to his safe house. Alcazar apologizes to Carly when he realizes he is responsible for the pain and confusion she feels. With Justus' help, Jason has Faith committed to Ferncliff. Although Jason doesn't remember telling Courtney that he loves her, he doesn't deny that he has feelings for her.

Carly admits to Alcazar that she does have some feelings for him. Alcazar catches Carly when she stumbles as she is about to leave. Jason, with his gun drawn, finds Carly in Alcazar's arms.
